ORA-01031, sysdba, and Windows XP

Hey guys,

I 'm not a wintel person by any means, and I have RTFM and RTFW as well. If
I 'm encountering the infamous ORA-01031 (See ORA-01031.ora-code.com) while connecting as sysdba on the
wintel platform - what do I have configured incorrectly, or better yet - not
configured at all?

I previously had a DB there, removed it, and the Registry settings..And now
I 'm unable to connect via "/ as sysdba " nor capable of connecting remotely
as sysdba.

Thanks in advance from a "wintel no nothing "

Thanks!

Greg Loughmiller
